Last week

The Bank of Ghana interbank rate sits near ₵11.6–11.8 to the dollar, with forex bureaus quoting around ₵12.30. The cedi is down roughly 11% against the dollar since the start of the year as second-half import demand and energy costs weigh, partly offset by gold receipts. The widening bureau spread is the clearest tell that importers are paying up for dollars.

Last week

The 91-day cleared around 4.62%, the 182-day near 6.31% and the 364-day about 9.71% at the latest weekly auction — essentially flat on the 12 October auction and consistent with inflation easing to roughly 5.2% (September, Ghana Statistical Service). The curve stays steep, paying about five points more to lock a year than to roll 91-day paper.

Last week

The NPA set 16–31 October floors at ₵16.09/L for petrol and ₵17.09/L for diesel, both down slightly from ₵16.45 and ₵17.97 in the first-October window as world product prices softened. LPG ran the other way, rising to ₵13.87/kg from ₵11.10 — an 18.5% jump. COMAC projects pumps around ₵17.67 for petrol and ₵19.30 for diesel on a cash basis. Petrol at the pump is up roughly 21% since early August, when this site last recorded ₵14.53.

GPRTU raised public-transport fares 8% effective 26 September, so a GH₵5 ride now costs GH₵5.50. It follows the 20% June increase and tracks the fuel floors, which have climbed from ₵14.53 in early August to ₵16.09 now. All 15 tracked routes have been re-priced.

New: what an electric car really costs in Ghana

Ghana's eight-year EV import duty waiver is scoped to public transport and assembly kits — the US Department of Commerce records that it does not apply to fully built electric cars for personal use — so a private buyer pays 20% under HS 8703801900, not zero. The page also prices charging against petrol from the live ECG tariff and the live pump price, so the gap moves when either does.
